You’ve Got to See This

I am always inspired by people who have interesting stories  My friend Sylvia Montero has a very interesting story.  In this post I’ll tell you a little about it, and you can watch a video where Sylvia will tell it you in her own words.

She was born in Puerto Rico in a house with no electricity or running water.  When she was a child her family moved to the projects in the Lower East Side of New York City.  When she arrived in New York, she spoke not a word of English.

She went on to excel in high school, winning a scholarship the Barnard, the women’s college of Columbia University.  She went to a very successful career as an HR executive, retiring as the Executive VP of Human Resources at Pfizer.

Now that she is retired, Sylvia gives back to her community.  She is the past President of the Board of Grand Street Settlement, a place where she spent a lot of her time as she was growing up.  She has written a book about her life called Make It Your Business. Recently, she was featured in a video in which she spoke about her life and career.  You can see the video here.

Watch this video and keep a copy.  Turn to it when you think things are tough and you want to give up. Sylvia’s message will give you the strength to keep going, to pursue your dreams and to become the success you are meant to be.
