I’m always surprised at how often solid career advice gets turned in a fad and then seems to disappear.  For example, the Fish Philosophy (www.fishphilosophy.com) was all the rage several years ago.  I even conducted a few Fish Philosophy workshops for a couple of my clients.
The Fish Philosophy was based on the way the guys work at the Pike Street Fish Market in Seattle.  If you’ve seen the movie, you know that there are four components to the Fish Philosophy: 1) Play; 2) Make Their Day; 3) Choose Your Attitude; and 4) Be There.

Tweet 62 in Success Tweets, my latest career success coach book says, “Your personal brand should be uniquely you, but built on integrity.  Integrity is doing the right thing when no one is looking.”
Over the weekend the Denver Broncos announced that they had violated NFL policy by secretly videotaping the San Francisco 49ers practice the day before they played the Broncos in London a couple of weeks ago.  Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels told the press and the league that the Broncos video manager gave him the videos, but that he never watched them.

Happy Thanksgiving to my readers in the USA!  Enjoy the day and meal.  Enjoy the football or whatever tradition your family has.  Cathy and I will be dropping in on the Annual Turkey bowl football game that our friends host and dining at one of our favorite restaurants – no leftovers and better yet – no cleanup.
Some of my best career advice is to come from an abundance mentality, to do for others while expecting nothing in return.  So I’ve decided to celebrate Thanksgiving this year by giving away a free eBook I’ve just created, …

My friend Mitchell Levy of Thinkaha Publishing is publishing a series of tweets books.  They are similar to my latest career success coach book Success Tweets: 140 Bits of Common Sense Career Success Advice, All in 140 Characters or Less.
Mitchell has recruited some interesting people for this series.  A while back he sent me a copy of #Sports Tweet, a book by Ronnie Lott and Keith Potter.  The subtitle is What I Learned from Coaches About Sports and Life.  If you’re an American football fan, you know Ronnie Lott.  He won four Super Bowls as …

Yesterday I saw an interesting statistic.  LinkedIn is growing by one person per second.  Think about it, every second, another person joins LinkedIn.   Are you on LinkedIn yet?  You should be.  LinkedIn is the social network for professionals.  It can help you create the life and career success you want and deserve.
The internet gives you the opportunity to create career success, maintain relationships with people you know well, strengthen relationships with people you know only a little and build new relationships with people who can help you create the life and career success you want …

I’ve been in Ireland for the past 10 days.   I’m back in the USA now.  While I loved Ireland, I’m happy to be home.  I didn’t do any career advice blogging last week because I was very busy with some consulting work and I was having difficulty with my internet connection in the hotel.
In this post, I want to go back to two Saturday’s ago when something big (in my world at least) happened.  Joe Paterno, coach of my beloved Penn State Nittany Lions won his 400th game.  Penn State was losing 21 – 0 …
